VIDEO: Fraizer Campbell Scores A Brace As Palace Draw 2-2 With Vancouver

Crystal Palace rounded off their US tour with a 2-2 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps last night thanks to a brace from Fraizer Campbell.

Here are the highlights from last night’s game, where an explosive second half saw four goals scored in just 28 minutes.

Alan Pardew began the game with an untested 3-5-2 formation, using Martin Kelly, Damien Delaney and Scott Dann at the back in a bid to tweak our potential tactical approach ahead of the new season and in an evenly matched opening 45 minutes, we seemed to cope with it relatively well.

After seeing the Whitecaps take the lead with a close-range header in the 50th minute, the Palace fans who had stayed up to watch the game were fearing the worst, but it took just 12 minutes for the Eagles to regain parity after some excellent work from the ever-impressive Andros Townsend saw him find half-time substitute Fraizer Campbell in the penalty for a cooly taken equaliser.

It took just four more minutes for the magic of Townsend to pay dividends again, after some fantastic work from him saw the ball fed to Connor Wickham who squared a pass to Campbell, prompting the former Manchester United man to grab his second of the evening.

Unfortunately, the goalscoring wasn’t to end there and in the 78th minute, the Whitecaps Kendall Watson brought them back to 2-2 with a header the Palace keeper Julian Speroni could do nothing about.

The final whistle signalled the end of the Eagles’ US tour, which, after going unbeaten in three games with two clean sheets to boot will undoubtedly be looked upon as a genuine success for all concerned.

There is no doubt whatsoever that Andros Townsend has shone in red and blue on the other side of the Atlantic, which can only bode well for us in the season to come.

Enjoy.
