Which Of Palace’s 13 Out Of Contract Players Should Stay On?
Thanks to a piece on football site HITC, we have been reminded that there are 13 first-team professionals are set to see their contracts expire over the summer, with decisions to be made over who should stay and who should go.
Of the experienced players due to renegotiate terms, Damien Delaney, Julian Speroni and Brede Hangeland look to be the most likely to extend their time at Selhurst Park, with all three having played a key role in the current campaign, whilst plenty of others won’t be looked upon quite as favourably.
For Shola Ameobi, Owen Garvan, Jerome Thomas, Lewis Price, Peter Ramage and Stephen Dobbie, you would expect to see their time in SE25 come to a permanent end, with every one having struggled to make an impact since
Palace won promotion to the top flight.
Beyond that, we see the likes of Reise Allassani, Jerome Binnon-Williams, Ryan Inniss and Sullay Kaikai looking for assurances on their future, with the decision over whether or not they warrant fresh contracts likely to be decided depending on how Alan Pardew views the immediate future for the football club in relation to player recruitment.
All four have shown glimpses of their potential readiness for regular first-team football in south London whilst out on loan or as part of the Palace development squad, but translating that into consistency at the top level is a completely different challenge for so many youngsters.
It’s sure to be a busy summer for us, as always.
