Palace & Newcastle Target Takes To Twitter To Laugh Off Rumours

Charlie Austin’s immediate future has been the subject of huge speculation over the last few weeks, with the 26-year-old expected to bounce straight back to the Premier League after suffering relegation with QPR in May, but after reports suggested that the striker’s wage demands were putting clubs off him, Austin himself took to Twitter to dispel any rumours.

With Palace, Newcastle and Aston Villa just some of the clubs who retain a degree of interest in taking him away from Loftus Road this summer, many had assumed that a deal would have been struck by now, but with the Premier League season less than two weeks away, the player remains at QPR, leading to inevitable discussions over the reason for the hold up.

Whilst Rangers’ Β£15 million valuation is almost certainly the biggest stumbling block for every club that has been linked to the former Swindon Town man, some reports had claimed that Austin was looking for Β£85,000 a week as part of the deal; which, if Charlie’s recent tweet is anything to go by, is the stuff of pure fiction.

Quite how high clubs such as ourselves should be willing to go in our pursuit of Austin remains a matter of personal preference, with his age and goal record proving to be enough for many to feel that he is worth every penny of the Β£15 million fee we’ve been quoted, but with all the interested parties still biding their time before pulling the trigger on a deal, you would have assume that financially, any genuine bidder is looking at a serious outlay.

It still seems highly likely that Austin will be leaving west London before the transfer window comes to a close, but with time flying by at a rapid pace, we remain completely in the dark over which club will end up winning the race for signature.

Forget Yohan Cabaye, this has been the true transfer saga of the summer.

QPR Man IS Likely To Leave This Summer, Palace & Newcastle On Alert

Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa have all been boosted in their supposed pursuit of QPR striker Charlie Austin, after his manager Chris Ramsey admitted that the frontman is likely to leave Loftus Road in the current transfer window.

Whilst Steve Parish had said just a few days ago that he felt Austin was destined to move “beyond us”, Ramsey’s comments have brought the 25-year-old’s immediate future back into question after some had suggested he may indeed stay with the Hoops until January.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, the QPR boss said:

We have to be realistic. It’s unlikely he’ll stay. We want to keep him, but it’s unlikely.

“The club is in a financial position that it needs to recoup some money and I think for his ambitions he wants to keep playing in the Premier League to go to the Euros.”

For Austin, there is an obvious desire to move to a club in the top half of the Premier League table, as he looks to cement his place in the England set-up after earning a call-up towards the end of last season, and with Alan Pardew having already secured the signatures of Yohan Cabaye and Patrick Bamford, the prospect of a move to Palace will be looking better all the time.

Whether or not we would indeed stump up the money needed to push QPR into sanctioning a move for Austin is a source of some debate, but were there to be a serious possibility of bringing him in, you get the impression that both Alan Pardew and CPFC2010 would be happy to reconsider their stance on our summer spending plans.

As things stand, Newcastle remain the obvious favourites to secure Austin, but with Charlie himself thought to be keen to remain in London, his final destination is far from set in stone just yet.

We couldn’t, could we?
